We had a nice visit from the girls on Fathers Day and were pleased to receive the arty portraits they brought. Really very elegant. Carol delivered the chair arm and wisely pointed out that I should produce the mirror image. In my dotage I could have done the (excuse the expression) opposite. By Monday, I should have the new parts in the mail to you. Some details:
I made 2 arms and arm supports so that you can make the chair look less reconstructed by replacing both sides. Alternative: If you spoil one, you have a back-up. I notched only one at the back, the mirror image. Also, I noticed that the cuts where the arm connects to the back rail are a bit irregular, so I was reluctant to go too far. You'll have to do the final fit by nibbling and cheating.
The red marks denote the joints, but I don't think it matters much. You may have to trim off the lower ends of the turnings depending on the depth of the holes in the seat. If they go all the way through the seat you could wedge them from below, but not vital. I'll look forward to a photo finish.
